ALEXANDER H. SILVEY, son of G. W. and Milassa Silvery was born in Pennslvanina, May 28, 1843; departed this life January 3, 1928 near Luka, Illinois, aged 84 years 8 mos 25 days.
He was united in marriage to Nancy Southerland in 1866. To this union was born 12 children. 4 preceded him in death in infancy. He leaaves to mourn his departure children namely: Effie Cardrell Vess, Iona Rush, Melvin, Lula Cardrell of Lawrenceville; Otto, of Luka; Maud Burkett and Edman all of Xenia. 48 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, 1 sister, Matilda Pifer of Michigan, 1 brother, I. Ross of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and a host of relatives and friends.
He was converted (can not read) ... about 38 years ago and joined the G. E. Church Pleasant Mount. He lived a consistent Christain until death. We weep not thou who have no hope feeling that our loss is his eternal gain.
He was a loving companion, a kind and affectionate father and a good neighbor. As long as Uncle Elic and Aunt Nan were able they were always ready to visit the sick and help in anyway they could. His passing away will bring much sorrow to his loved ones.
Dear Father, day by day,
We saw you fade and gently pass away.
If tender and loving hands care
Could death prevent
Your days would not so soon be spent.
Funeral services were conducted by R. C. Butchers at Powers Church Wednesday after which the body was laid to rest in the cemetery nearby.
