Mrs. Harry Fewkes, wife of a prominent farmer and World War veteran of near Albion, passed away after a long illness at the family residence on last Monday. She had undergone an operation last October and had been bedfast since that time.
Funeral services, which were largely attended, were conducted from the Albion Methodist church yesterday afternoon at two o'clock by Rev. F. W.Schwarzlose, the pastor. Interment was made in Graceland cemetery.
Obituary
Ellen Creighton Fewkes, daughter of Thomas F. and Mary Elizabeth Creighton, was born in Jasper Township, Wayne County, Illinois, January 15, 1897. She died March 1st, 1937, at the age of 40 years, one month and 16 days.
She was married to Harry L. Fewkes January 1st, 1920, and since her marriage has lived with her husband near Albion, Edwards County, Illinois. To this union two children were born, Minnie Elizabeth, who preceded her mother, December 9th, 1927, and Charles Frederick, who survives.
Deceased was converted early in life and became a member of the Methodist Episcopal church at Ebenezer near her home in Wayne county. After her marriage she transferred her membership to the First Methodist Episcopal church in Albion, where she was a devoted member at the time of her death.
Besides her husband and son, she leaves an infirm father, three sisters and two brothers.
