Funeral services were conducted at ten o'clock Friday morning, May 28, for City Clerk Lawrence K. Sunderland, who died at his home here Tuesday night, May 25th.
Services were in the First Methodist Church, conducted by Dr. Albert R. Ransom, assisted by Rev. J. T. Coleman. The male quartet composed of: Joe Boze, H. D. Williard, Clarence Tromley and Dan Cochennour sang.
Burial was in the Maple Hill cemetery.
Lawrence Kinzie Sunderland, who passed away May 25, 1937 at the age of 55 years and 3 days, was born in Wayne county, Ill., May 22, 1882, the son of Kinzie and Mary Hay Sunderland. He is the last of five sons. He was educated in the public schools of Wayne county and attended the Marietta Business College, at Marietta, Ohio,
On April 12, 1905, Mr. Sunderland was united in marriage to Melvina Creighton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Creighton. To this union were born three children, one daughter, Mary Ruth and two sons, John Kenzie [sic], and Joseph Lawrence. He is survived by his wife and the three children.
Practically all his life was spent in Wayne county and Fairfield. During his lifetime he endeared himself to many and was held in high esteem by his numerous friends.
