JAMES WALLACE PAIGE

James Wallace Paige, of 812 S. Second St., a retired newspaperman, died at 8:40 a.m. yesterday.  He was 77 years old.

Mr. Paige was born in 1873 at Mason City, Ia., and attended schools there.  He was a graduate of Cornell College.

He began his career as a newspaperman on the old Chicago Record-Herald. He worked on the Mobile, Ala., Register as well as papers at Joliet and Evanston.  For many years he was editor of the Southern Field magazine, published in Washington, D. C.

Mr. Paige was married in 1910 to Ada Bell Creighton, daughter of Judge James A. Creighton and Mary Catherine Creighton.

Surviving are his wife; one sister, Mrs. Mabel Klane, of Chicago; one brother, Irwin Paige, of Aspen, Colo., and several nieces and nephews.

Remains were removed to the Thomas S. Smith's Sons funeral home.  Services will be held at 2:30 p. m. tomorrow at the residence.  Rev. Paul Richard Graebel will officiate and burial will be in Oak Ridge cemetery.
