DIES UNEXPECTEDLY

Respected Fairfield Citizen
Found Dead at Her Home

Funeral Thursday Afternoon

Mrs. Mabel E. Towns, 72, widow of the late Prof. O. A. Towns, died unexpectedly at her home on East Douglas street here Monday morning.

She was found lying dead in her bathroom by Mrs. Clara Lasater, who had an apartment in the home.  Heart trouble was given as the cause of death.  She had been dead a few hours when found.

The remains were moved to the Nale Funeral home.  Funeral services will be held at the First Christian church at 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon by Elder John Lappin, assisted by Elder Warren Crippen.  Burial will follow in Cisne cemetery.

Mrs. Towns was born near Fairfield on January 19, 1880, the daughter of Zed J. and Ellen Roberts.  While a young woman she was married to O. A. Towns, who spent most of his life as a school principal.  At one time he headed the schools here.  He died about 12 years ago.

Active Church Worker

Mrs. Towns was an active worker in the First Christian church here.  She was also active in the Woman's Club and was one of the charter members, organizers and the first president of the Wayne county Home Bureau.  She was a member of the D.A.R.

Surviving are two brothers, Dr. E. E. Roberts, of West Salem, and Arch Roberts, of Los Angeles, Calif.
