OBITUARY
W. H. Barnard, son of William and Dica Burgess Barnard was born March 18, 1882 in Wayne County, Illinois.
After a brief illness he departed this life at Fairfield Memorial on Friday evening March 8, 1957, at the age of 74 years, 11 months and 20 days.
His parents died when he was a small boy and he made his home with his uncle, John Hawkins, of near Orchardville.
On March 21, 1905 he was united in marriage to Lillie A. Barnard. To this union a daughter and two sons were born. Mrs. Inez Manahan of Johnsonville, Lowell Barnard of Wayne City and Russel Barnard of McLeansboro.
In addition to his wife, his daughter and two sons, he leaves 4 grandchildren and four great grandchildren, a half brother, James T. Scott of Springfield, a half sister, Mrs Myrtle Elliott of Bucyrus, MO, and a host of relatives.
Some 50 years ago he was converted in a meeting held at Bailey Church and united with Bailey Methodist Church. He loved his home and the ties between him and his family were very strong. They will always cherish the memories of things he did for them.
He was a farmer by trade and usually called Bill. by his friends with whom he liked to talk and joke with. He was liked for his kindheartedness, friendly disposition towards others. His home was open at all times to his relatives and friends. It was a pleasure to visit in his home. His voice is still and we shall live to meet him on heavens bright shore.
The funeral was at Bailey Church Monday, March 11, at 2 p.m. conducted by Bro. H. G. Coventry. Bro. Jess Miller. He was laid to rest in Bailey Cemetery.
