JOHNATHAN WINDLAND
Funeral services were held Tuesday , April 7 at the Oak Valley Baptist Church for Johnathan Windland lifetime resident of Wayne county. Mr. Windland was born July 5, 1852, and passed away at his home in Berry township Sunday, April 5. Elder W.D. Crippin conducted the services and burial was in the Oak Valley cemetery.
Johnathan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Windland, was born in Wayne County near Jeffersonville, July 5, 1852. His entire life has been spent in and near the vicinity of his birth, where he operated a farm and dealt in live stock.
He was united in marriage with Hannah H. Sutton in 1878. Nine children were born to this union, eight of whom have preceded their father in death; Nora, Walter, Charles, Lillie, Eva, Harvey, Nannie and Freddie. The companion also passed away April 10, 1905.
He was again united in marriage in 1921 with Hannah King, who passed away in 1925. In 1928 he was again untied in marriage with Josephine Ayers, who survives him.
Following a few days of illness he passed peacefully into rest at his home in Berry township, Sunday night, April 5, 1942, age 89 years and 9 months. Besides his faithful companion, he is survived by one son, Jesse, fourteen grandchildren, eleven great g4randchildren, many other relatives and friends who will mourn his passing.
