CORA BELL NEHF
Cora Bell, daughter of (?) F. and Alice Montgo(?) was born in Wayne County, (?) 10. 1878. She has spent her entire life in and near the vicinity of her birth, where she was greatly beloved and highly respected by a large circle of friends and acquaintances. She was united in marriage with Lewis Chapman in 1895. Two daughters were born to this union, one of whom, Ruth Wolfe, preceded her mother in death in 1918.
She was again united in marriage with Henry Nehf, March 27, 1918. No children were born to this union but the four children of her husband were given a mother’s love and care.
In 1923 during an evangelistic meeting conducted by Elder O.V. Wilkison she with her husband united with the Cisne Christian church and remained a faithful member of this congregation throughout the remainder of her life. She was also a faithful member of the Johnsonville Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She has been in failing health for several months and following a few weeks of acute suffering, she entered into rest at the Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Mo., Monday morning, January 29, 1945, age 68 years, 4 months and 19 days.
She is survived by her faithful companion, one daughter, Irma Burroughs of St. Louis; two stepsons, Otto Nehf of Manteno and George Nehf off Jackson, Michigan; two step daughters, Violet Carter of Jackson, Michigan and Freda Carvin of Ann Arbor, Mich.; two grandchildren, Ruth Eldridge and Ralph Burroughs; three step-grandchildren, Ramona Kay Nehf, Eugene Carter and Jerry Lee Carter, two great grandchildren, Jackie Roy Cassady and Vickie Lynn Burroughs, three brothers, Ernest and Herbert of Kalamazoo, Michigan and James of Hobart, Indiana; four sisters, Mrs. Maud Cote, San Diego, California; Mrs. Crete Williamson of Mendota and Mrs. Savannah Ellis and Mrs. Edith Kimball, both of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Many other relatives and a host of friends who will mourn her passing.
Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist Church in Johnsonville, Thursday afternoon by Elder W.D. Crippin. Interment was in the Johnsonville cemetery.
