CLYDE MASON CUNNINGHAM
Clyde Mason Cunningham, eldest son of the late Cyrus and Nova Cunningham, was born near Rinard, Ill. On December 12, 1891; departed this life near the place of his birth of his birth, on Nov. 8, 1945, at the age of 53 years, 10 months and 27 days.
At an early age he was converted to Christ under the ministry of the Rev. A.H. Bennett, and was united with the Christian Temple Church in January 1906, of which he remained a member until his death.
He was united in marriage to Audrie Nova Meador, of near Iuka, Ill., on Nov. , 1917. To this union two sons were born, Harold Carl and Glenn Howard.
Clyde spent almost his entire life in the community of his birth as a school teacher, mail carrier, and farmer and was always a good citizen of high morals. He also served in the armed forces of the American Expeditionary Forces of World War I. His sons, following his example, answered the call of their country in World War II. One, Harold, received his discharge on Nov. 2, a few days before his father’s death, while the other, Glenn, last known to be in the Philippines, was unable to be present at this time. One nephew, Elbert O. Michels, is now serving in Japan.
Clyde leaves to mourn his passing his two sons, one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Harold Cunningham, four grandsons, one sister, Mrs. Flossie Michels, one niece, two nephews, one grandnephew, and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrie, and by his brother, Earl.
His body lay in state at the Hancock Funeral Home until time for the funeral services which were held at the Christian Temple Church on Nov. 12, at 2:00 P.M. Reverend Baughman, the minister in charge, was assisted by the American Legion, who rendered full military honors. Interment followed at the Willow Branch cemetery.
