OBITUARY

November 1945

LAFAYETTE   SPICER

Lafayette, son of Oliver and Martha Spicer, was born near Johnsonville, Sept. 6, 1881. His life was spent in the vicinity of his birth, where he was well known and highly respected by all who knew him. During the ministry of Rev. Cissna, he was converted and united with the Johnsonville Methodist Church, where he retained his membership during his lifetime.

He was united in marriage with Bessie Gloeckner, Sept. 6, 1911. Five children were born to this union.

His life work was that of a farmer and stockman and for many years he has been one of the substantial citizens of his community.

Following a prolonged illness, he entered peacefully into rest at his home in Orchard Township, near the noon hour, Nov. 16, 1945, age 64 years, 2 months and 10 days.

He is survived by his faithful companion, four sons, Howard, Kenneth and Harlan, all of near Johnsonville and Voris, with the Armed Forces overseas; one daughter, Mrs. Lucille Cates of Fairfield; two grandchildren; two brothers, Bundy of near Xenia and Ulysses of near Johnsonville; one sister, Mrs. Josie Blake of Fresno, Calif.; many other relatives and a large circle of friends and acquaintances who mourn his passing.

Funeral services were conducted from the Wesley Chapel Church Sunday afternoon by the Rev. Milo Lashbrock. Interment was in the Wesley Chapel cemetery.
