Last Rites To Be Held Friday
For Mrs. Enid Wood
Funeral services for Mrs. Enid Wood, 42, of Wayne City will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Wayne City Baptist Church.
The Rev. Everett Lemay, pastor, will officiate and burial will be in the Thomason Cemetery.
Mrs. Wood was killed instantly and two Wayne City teenagers were injured at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday in a two car collision a mile and a half east of the Markham City Road, west of Wayne City.
Injured were Bennie Greenwalt17, and a passenger in his car, Donna Mullinax, 17. They are not critically hurt.
State Patrolman Andy Muzarelli, who investigated the wreck, said a westbound 1956 Chevrolet driven by Mrs. Wood went out of control and skidded sideways into the path of an eastbound 1954 Ford driven by Greenwalt.
Mrs. Wood was thrown through the windshield and suffered a broken neck and internal injuries.
Mrs. Wood was the wife of Blythe Wood, partner in the Esmon and Wood Grocery Store in Wayne City.
She was born Aug 12, 1914, in Wayne County, the daughter of Sylvester and Addie Dickey Withrow.
Surviving are her husband; two sons, Donnie, medical student in Chicago, and Dougie at home; one daughter, Mrs Brenda Hiatt of Bluford; five sisters, Mrs Bernice Warren, Mrs Hazel Esmon and Mrs. Sylvia Richardson of Wayne City, Mrs. Una Gregory of Mendota and Mrs. Irma Imel of E. Alton and two brothers, Orman of Fairfield and Lester of Wayne City.
