Elsworth was born December 11, 1936 in Fairfield, Illinois to Earnest Greenwood and M. LaVerne Schmidt Greenwood. He was united in marriage at Fairfield, Illinois August 24, 1963 to Barbara Ellis who died June 26, 2016.
Survivors include a daughter Elisa Taylor and her husband Jimmy of Fairfield, Illinois; a step son Terry Simpson and his wife Vicki of Columbia, Illinois and 4 grandchildren.
Elsworth was preceded in death by his father and mother and his wife.
Funeral services for Elsworth "Ellie" Greenwood will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday December 5, 2017 at Nale's Funeral Home in Fairfield, Illinois. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Fairfield, Illinois.
Visitation will be conducted Tuesday December 5, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Nales Funeral Home in Fairfield, Illinois.
Memorials may be made to the New Hope General Baptist Church and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
