Elias N. Simpson
February 3, 1933 - April 3, 2018 (age 85)

85 year old Fairfield, Illinois resident Elias N. Simpson died at 11:12 a.m. Tuesday April 3, 2018 at the Skilled Care Unit of Fairfield Memorial Hospital in Fairfield, Illinois. He was was a longtime farmer and served as Wayne County Circuit Clerk for 20 years from 1976 to 1996. Elias served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Soil Conservation Services, Coin Club, Historical Society, American Legion, S.W.A.N., ASCS Board, Albion Moose, Lions Club, FCHS and New Hope School Boards, and organized the New Hope Water District. He attended the Richland Congregational Church.

Elias was born February 3, 1933 in Wayne County, Illinois to Miles Simpson and Lulu Wright Simpson. He was united in marriage January 10, 1953 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois to Marjorie Tribe.

Survivors include his wife Marjorie Simpson of Fairfield, Illinois; 2 sons Gordon Simpson and his wife Linda of Fairfield, Illinois and Brad Simpson and his wife Tacey of Fairfield, Illinois; 2 daughters Dawna Vaughan and her husband Rodney of Fairfield, Illinois and Rhonda Rose and her husband Jim of Fairfield, Illinois; 2 brothers Robert Simpson of Fairfield, Illinois and Willard Simpson of Franklin Grove, Illinois; a sister Anna Lou Taylor of Geff, Illinois; 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Elias was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers and 2 sisters.

Funeral services for Elias N. Simpson will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday April 8, 2018 at Nale's Funeral Home in Fairfield, Illinois with Brother David Savage officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Fairfield, Illinois with full military rites conducted by the Anthony Wayne American Legion Post 176 and Wayne Memorial VFW Post 4535.

Visitation will be conducted from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday April 7, 2018 Nale's Funeral Home in Fairfield, Illinois.

Memorials may be made to the Dr. Scranton Cancer Fund or Shriners Hospital and envelopes will be available at the church or Nale's Funeral Home in Fairfield.
