Carol Joan (Galbreath) "JoJo" Carter

89 year old Fairfield resident Carol Joan "Jojo" Galbreath Carter, passed away12:15 a.m. Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital. Joan worked along side her husband Newt, at Carter's Cleaners for over 40 years. She was a member of the Fairfield First Christian Church and the Rebekah Lodge. Joan taught Sunday School, lead the bell choir and directed the Life Singers Teen Choir.
Joan was born September 18, 1928 in Arthur, Illinois to Roy and Inez (Lawrence)Galbreath. She married E.N. "Newt" Carter on June 1, 1947 at Newton, Illinois.
Joan is survived by 2 sons; Royce Carter and his wife Becky and Gary Carter and his wife Terri, both of Fairfield. 4 Grandsons - Nick Carter of Fairfield, David Carter and his wife Julia of Bloomington, Illinois, Nate Carter and his wife Callie of Fairfield, and Eric Carter and Merrin of Plainfield, Indiana; 9 Great Grandchildren, RE, Jude, Blair, Neve, David, Hayden, Brooke, Kennedy and Knox and several nieces & nephews.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant son, George Delno and a sister Jane Smith.
Services for Carol Joan Carter will be held Tuesday, August 21 at 10:30 .a.m. at Nale's Funeral Home in Fairfield with burial at Maple Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call Monday evening, August 21, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Nale's Funeral Home in Fairfield.
Memorials may be given made to the Wabash Christian Village in Carmi and will be accepted at Nale's Funeral Home.
