CECIL RAY

Cecil I. Ray, son of Charles and Lous May Ray, was born June 5, 1894 at the old William Ray farm where he grew to young manhood. He was united in marriage with Grace Craig, June 15, 1913. To this union six children were born. One son Donald Alwin died in infancy. A short time after his marriage he built a home about 3-4 of a mile north of his birthplace where he resided until his death.

He became suddenly sick on Monday night August 23rd. All was done that willing hands could do to relieve his suffering, but every effort failed and he passed away at his home Friday night, August 27, 1943 at the age of 49 years, 2 months and 22 days.

About 34 years ago he confessed faith in Christ and united with the Christian Church at Cisne, where he retained his membership until his passing.

He leaves to mourn his passing his faithful companion, four sons, Ralph, Herschel, Everette, and Robert, one daughter, Mrs. Clarice Towns, two grandchildren Carolin June and Charles Allen; Step-mother, Mrs. Olive Ray, one brother, Chester Ray of Flora; one sister Lura of Cisne; two uncles Pearl of Cisne and Herman Ray of Clear Lake, Washington and many other relatives and friends. His father and mother preceded him in death. Two of his sons are in the U.S. service; Herschel somewhere in the Pacific and Everette in training at Camp Croft, South Carolina.

Funeral services were conducted at the Christian Church at Cisne August 31, 1943 at 2:00 P.M. by Eld. E.L. Crooks. Interment in Cisne cemetery.
