82 year old Elgin resident, Lowell Frederick Witter passed away at 12:11am, Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.
Lowell was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1936 in Jasper Township in Wayne County, Illinois and was the second of twelve children born to George Eugene and Carrie Alberta (Dawson) Witter.
His education started at King School and finished in the Fairfield Schools. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1956. Most of his life was spent in the Elgin, Illinois area where he was self-employed, operating Aero Landscaping for many years. Lowell had secured several patents for his inventions, winning a bronze medal for his framework removal tool in international competition. Lowell attended Willow Creek Community Church in Barrington, Illinois.
Surviving are four brothers, Harold Eugene (Anita) Witter of Barnhill; Leo Verl (Donna) Witter of Mill Shoals; Loren Earl Witter, of Mason; and Donald Lewis (Virginia) Witter of Fairfield and four sisters, Doris Ellen (Dennis) Bland Cropper and Shirley Elaine Edgington of Fairfield; Dorotha (Lowell) Thackrey of Carmi; and LaDonna Marie Calton of Bedford, Texas. An aunt, Evelyn Marie (Dawson) Musgrave of Marion, Illinois and many nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Leon Beryl Witter, Robert Lynn Witter, and Ronald Allen Witter.
Funeral services for Lowell will be held Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at 11:00am at Nale’s Funeral Home in Fairfield. A Visitation will be from 9am until service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Real Life Church or Grace Chapel of Fairfield and will be accepted at the funeral home.
