Earl V. Shehorn
92-year-old former Fairfield resident, Earl V. Shehorn died Monday morning, May 18, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville, KY.
A WWII veteran, he had operated the West End Cafe, the Dog & Suds, Uptown Laundry and Dry Cleaners, built the El Rancho Motel, Restaurant and Dining Room, Tastee Freeze and the Fairfield Motel and Standard Oil service Station. He previously worked for Carter Oil and Halliburton Oil Well Servicing, had worked for the State of Illinois and established the Fairfield Package Liquor Store. He also had a small farm, raised cattle, race horses and raised and trained Trotters and Pacers. He had been a member of the Wayne County Fair Board and the Fairfield Lions Club.
Survivors include his daughter, Bernice Sharon Molt; six grandchildren; Derk R. Molt, Heath Barkley Molt, Chance Berg, J.T. Berg, Christy Shehorn and Michelle Livengood; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services for Earl V. Shehorn are pending at Nale's Funeral Home in Fairfield. Burial will be in Maple hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Children's Foundation at Western Kentucky University or the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry at Madisonville, KY and will be accepted at Nale's Funeral Home in Fairfield.
