Victor Jay Miller
88-year-old Geff native, Victor Jay Miller died Thursday, May 14. He was a veteran of WW II, participating in the D-Day invasion with the 5th Rangers.
In Germany, he was taken prisoner, escaped, and was later recaptured. After WW II, he earned a PHD in horticulture and served as chairman of the horticulture department at the University of Nebraska. In 1958, he moved to Arizona State University and taught there until his retirement in 1986. He had also been host of the Gardening for Fun weekly TV show on KAET TV for over 20 years. He also wrote a column for the Arizona Republic Newspaper under the same name.
Survivors include his wife, Faye W. Miller; a sister, Vera Lee Cox of Fairfield; a son, Brian Miller of Tokyo; a daughter, Bobbie Miller of Tempe, AZ; two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and one step-grandchild.
Services for Victor Jay Miller will be 2 p.m. on Monday, May 25, at the Community Christian Church in Tempe, AZ.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Community Christian Church or the Boyce Thompson Arboretum in Superior, AZ.
