W. LaVern Henson, 81, of Orchardville, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at the VA Medical Center of Marion.
He was born Jan. 18, 1927, in Wayne County, the son of Bradford and Blanche Marilyn (Rapp) Henson. He married Norma Jean Vest on July 26, 1947, at the home of LaVern's parents. He was supervisor for Warco Oil Company and owner of Henson Auto Sales.
Mr. Henson is survived by his wife Norma Jean of Orchardville; one son, Rick Henson of Orchardville; one daughter, Jonna Medder and husband Tony of Cisne; one brother, Ed Henson and wife Ganita of Centralia; six grandchildren, Shannon Henson, Sherry Jones, Cody Bur-roughs, Todd Burroughs, Ryan Medder and Rachel Parsey; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Howard.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Community of Christ Church in Orchardville. He was a good husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by his family.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Community of Christ Church in Orchardville with Rich Forth and Tim Talbert officiating. Interment will follow at Jacobs Chapel Cemetery in Orchardville.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
