ROBERT GORDON

*GERMANTOWN HILLS *- Robert Eugene Gordon, 75, of Germantown Hills passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Aden, Ill., on May 28, 1935, to Harold and Thelma (Isaacs) Gordon, he married Sharon Beasley on June 23, 1957, at Bellevue Bible Church.

She survives, along with two sons, Kevin (Lori) of Bloomington and Steve (fiancee, Susie Moore) of Germantown Hills; one daughter, Jill (Mike) Kibler of Washington; nine grandchildren, Nicole and Robert Gordon of Spring Bay, Samantha Gordon of East Peoria, Michael Jr., Chris, Cassie and Josh Kibler of  Washington and Paige and Alex Gordon of Bloomington; and one great-grandson, Michael of Spring Bay.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John Dale.

He worked for Chris Hoerr & Sons in East Peoria for 23 years and worked
six years for the Agriculture Lab on University Street in Peoria in the
Heating & A/C Department. He started his own heating and cooling
business before retiring in 1997.

He had been a volunteer fireman

for Limestone Township and a member of the DAT team of the American Red
Cross. He served in many disasters, including Hurricane Katrina.

He was on the village of Germantown Hills Zoning Board and was a faithful member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in East Peoria.

He went on several missionary trips and said everyone should go because it would change their lives.

He enjoyed camping, his grandchildren and was an avid NASCAR fan. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 20, at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in East Peoria. The Rev. Fred Doughty will officiate. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Trivoli Cemetery in Trivoli, Ill.

Memorials may be made to his church or to the Central Illinois Chapter of the American Red Cross or to OSF Hospice.
