Flossie Opal Morris, 97, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away at 5:15 A.M. on Monday, January 16, 2012 at Way-Fair Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Fairfield, Illinois.
Flossie was born on Saturday, October 17, 1914 in Aden, Illinois the daughter of the late Charley and Sarah (Witter) Bond. She married Lewis Blackford and he preceded her in death. She later married Wayne M. Morris on April 11, 1962 in Urbana, Illinois and he preceded her in death on October 24, 2001.
Surviving family members include her daughter: Eloise Carlock of Mill Shoals, Illinois; son: Bill Mac Blackford and wife Gayla of Fairfield, Illinois; 9 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 15 great great grandchildren; 3 step children; 7 step grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren also survive.
Her parents, both husbands, three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
Opal was a homemaker, a private caregiver for the elderly, an excellent seamstress, an immaculate housekeeper. She was awarded the Women of the Year at Gibson City Catholic Church in the early 1980's and she made rosaries that were sent all over the world. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.
VISITATION: will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the service time 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. FUNERAL MASS: will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Father John Iffert will officiate. INTERMENT: St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.
