Mary Francis (Brand) Clayton, 90, was taken home to her Lord and Savior at 10:10 a.m. on Nov. 19, 2011 at Mascoutah, Ill., after an extended illness.
Mary was born April 22, 1921 in Fairfield to Charles and Florence (Adams) Brand. She married her high school sweetheart, James M. Clayton II, who has been waiting for her in Heaven. Mary will be greatly missed by her six surviving children, James M. Clayton III (Dee) of Franklin, Ky., Bob Clayton (Pam) of Evansville, Ind., Pat Johnston of Lebanon, Barbara Prather (Alex) of Mt. Zion, Mike Clayton of Effingham and Kathy Clayton of Lebanon. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother and three sisters.
Mary was a lifetime member of Ellen Moore United Methodist Church and retired from Airtex Products in 1983. Mary loved music and loved to sing. She spent many Sundays in her church choir and now has found her special place in Heaven's Choir, We love you, Mom.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011 at Johnson & Vaughn Funeral Home, 106 NE Fourth St., Fairfield, with graveside services to follow at Maple Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Ellen Moore United Methodist Church in Fairfield.
