Mrs. Bessie McDowell, 89, long-time resident of the Mt. Erie vicintity, died at 7 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient 15 days.

Mrs. McDowell had been in poor health some time and had been previously hospitalized.

She was the widow of Robert McDowell, who died a number of years ago.

Funeral services will be from McKendree Methodist church at 2 p.m. Thursday, with Rev. Forrest Crouch officiating and interment in the church cemetery.  Friends may call at the Crippin Funeral Home after 4 p.m. Monday (today).  The body will be taken to the church at noon Tuesday.

Bessie, daughter of James and Mary Ellen Porterfield, was born at Mt. Erie November 23rd, 1874.

She was a member of the McKendree church.

Surviving are two sons, Leo, of Albion, and Ernest, of St. Louis, Mo.; one daughter, Mrs. John Gardner, of Mt. Erie; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
