James W. Greenwood, 65, of Effingham, died at 4:06 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 1996, at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in that city.
He was manager of the 76 Truck Plaza at Effingham and was a cousin of Pete Greenwood, of Fairfield.
Funeral rites will be at 11 a.m. Friday from the Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham, with burial in Woodlawn cemetery there. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday (tonight) at the funeral home. There will be ELks services tonight at 7:00 and a Masonic service at 7:30.
He was born in Flora Apr. 25, 1931, the son of Elza and Addie Backhuse Greenwood.
In 1952 at Flora, he was married to Lyda Brown.
Mr. Greenwood was a member of the Flora First Christian Church, the Effingham Masonic Lodge (a past master); Lecturer Scottish Rite Bodies of Danville, the Ainad Temple of East St. Louis,
The Effingham Elks Lodge and the Effingham Eagles. Memorials may be made to donor's choice.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Michael, of Effingham; Scott, of Effingham; and Eric, of Effingham; one daughter, Mrs. John (Brenda) Wilson, of Toledo; two sisters, Helen Dulaney, of Flora; and Peggy Pierard, of Coal City; and nine grandchildren.
