Longtime Fairfield resident, Harlan G. Brown, 79, died at 8 a.m. Thursday (today) Nov. 29, 1984, at Danville V. A. Hospital.
Mr. Brown was a patient at the hospital for the past four years. Death was due to pneumonia and complications. He was the father of Joseph Brown II, and brother of Mrs. Bob (Letha) Black, of Fairfield. The Brown family lived on Mt. Vernon Road until Mr. Brown moved to the V. A. Hospital.
Funeral services are pending at Herrick, Ill.
Mr. Brown was born at Herrick Jan. 12, 1905, the son of Joseph and Margaret Ann (Frailey) Brown.
He was wed to the former Nettie Williams at Vandalia. The couple was
originally from the Cowden and Herrick areas.
Mr. Brown was employed for several years here with Brown Chevrolet Company.
He was a member of North Side Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Nettie Brown, of Cowden; two sons, Joseph Brown II, of Fairfield; and Roger Brown, of Terre Haute, Ind.; two daughters, Mrs Don (Jeanette) Baron, of Jeffersonville, Ind., and Mrs. Terry (Ann) Farver, of Cowden; two sisters, Mrs. Bob (Letha) Black, of Fairfield; and Mrs. Vida Babb, of Charleston; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were one brother and a sister.
