Mrs. Almeda Gammon, 86, of Fairfield, former long-time Mill Shoals resident, the mother of Jim Gammon, of Fairfield, died at 1:10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, 1984, at Way-Fair Restorium.
Mrs. Gammon was a patient at the nursing home for the last 10 years. Death was due to the infirmities of age, the Press was told.
Mrs. Gammon was the widow of Callie Gammon, who formerly operated the hardware store at Mill Shoals.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Home, with Bro. Oakley Miller officiating. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery south of Wayne City.
Visitation for Mrs. Gammon will be held from 5 - 8 p.m. Monday (tonight).
Mrs. Gammon was born at Sims July 30, 1898, the daughter of John and Louisa (Sons) Thomason. She was educated at Sims School.
She was wed to Callie Gammon Aug. 17, 1919, at Mill Shoals. Mr. Gammon preceded her in death Sept. 8, 1967. Mrs Gammon was a member of Mill Shoals Missionary Baptist Church.
She was a housewife and homemaker during her marriage.
Survivors include one son, Jim Gammon, of Fairfield; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are two brothers and one sister.
