Vern L. Hutchcraft, 72, of Rt. 2, Belle Rive, died at 6 p.m. Thursday, Apr. 20, 1995, at his home. Mr. Hutchcraft was a retired farmer and railroad worker. He was the father of Rev. David R. Hutchcraft of Wayne City.
Funeral rites were conducted Saturday afternoon from the Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, with Rev. Leland Ganieany officiating. Interment was in Farnsworth Cemetery south of Keenes. Visitation was conducted at Hughey's Friday evening.
He was born in Hamilton County Apr. 29, 1923, the son of Byrd and Minnie Browder Hutchcraft.
On June 6, 1945, in Mt. Vernon, he was married to Geraldine I. Ewald.
Mr. Hutchcraft was a member of the Long Prairie Missionary Baptist Church. He was a World War II Army veteran and was a Prisoner of War in that war.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, two brothers and one sister.
Surviving are his wife; one son, Rev. David Hutchcraft, of Wayne City; five daughters, Mrs. Charles (Fern Thierry, of Dahlgren); Mrs. Glenn (Rose) Frashier, of Maunie; Mrs. Rev. David (Doris) Schlag, of Belle Rive; Mrs. Rev. David (Carol Ann) Fletcher, of Mayfield, Ky.; and Mrs. Rick (Donna C.) Bartlett of Mt. Olive; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
