Vern E. Shelton, 57, of Rt. 1, Belle Rive, died at his home at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Apr. 16, 1995.

He was a retired carpenter and a brother of John Shelton, of Fairfield.

Funeral rites were conducted Tuesday afternoon from the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro, with Rev. Robert Sefried officiating.  Interment was in Hopewell Cemetery at McLeansboro.

He as born at Mt. Vernon, Ind., Aug. 4, 1937, the son of John Wesley and Louella Sartt Shelton.

Mr. Shelton was of the Protestant faith.

Surviving are his mother, Louella Shelton, of Mt. Vernon, Ind.; a special friend, Kathy Maddamma; a daughter, Brenda Musgraves, of Norris City; one granddaughter; two brothers, John Shelton, of Fairfield, and  Robert Shelton, of Katy, Tex.; and two sisters, Barbara Fulton, of Tampa, Fla.; and Margaret Bundy, of Mt. Vernon, Ind.
