Floyd Bassett, 76, Aurora, former long-time Wayne County resident, died at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, 1989 at the Mercy Center Hospital in Aurora.
He died of congestive heart failure.
Graveside services were held Thursday at River Hill Memorial Cemetery in Aurora. Visitation was at the Dieterle Funeral Home also in Aurora.
Mr. Bassett was born Feb. 21, 1912 in Albion, Ill., the son of George and Ella (Dawson) Bassett.
On June 11, 1933, he married Catherine Hatlett in Fairfield.
He was employed at Airtex as a setup man, but retired about 25 years ago on disability leave due to a heart condition.
Mr. Bassett was also a member of the First Christian Church in Wayne City. He had lived in either Wayne City or Fairfield for most of his life, moving to Aurora to live with a daughter only two and a half years ago.
Surviving him are two sons, Bill of New Lenox, Ill. and Larry of Joliet; a daughter, Mrs. Jim (Lyndall) Patterson of Aurora; six grandchildren and 15 great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one grandson.
