Gerald Lawrence Meyer, 49, of rural Dieterich, the brother of Mrs. Loren (Norma Jean) Elmore, of Johnsonville, was pronounced dead at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, 1983, near his home.

Mr. Meyer was found in his truck about one-fourth mile from his home in a field around a small wooded area

The cause of death has been determined as carbon monoxide poisoning, according to Eric Altoff, Effingham county coroner.

Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Wright Funeral Home in Dieterich. Burial was in Immaculate Conception Cemetery.

Mr. Meyer was born in Effingham, the son of Clarence and Irene (Niendick)

Surviving are his wife Marlene Meyer, of rural Dieterich; three sons, James, Alan and Michael, all at home; one daughter, Carla Meyer at home; a brother. Eugene Meyer, of Dieterich; two sisters, Mrs. Loren (Norma Jean) Elmore, of Johnsonville; a nd Mrs. Don (Marie) Sandschafer, of Effingham.
