Mrs. Lorene Cooper, 80, a well known Fairfield woman, an employee many years of Fairfield High School, died at 11:05 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, 1983, at Way-Fair Restorium.
A resident of the nursing home for the past two years, Mrs., Cooper was the widow of the late Wilford Cooper.
Funeral services for Mrs. Cooper were held at 10 a.m. Thursday (today) at the Nale's Funeral Home, with Rev. B. R. Cummins officiating. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Cooper was born in Fairfield June 27, 1903, the daughter of Carl and Margaret (Barth) Schedel. Her father was a Fairfield businessman.
She married Wilford L. Cooper, a flour company salesman, who preceded her in death Feb. 16, 1955.
Mrs. Cooper was employed as a high school teacher outside of Wayne county early in her marriage. After moving to Fairfield, she worked as a secretary at Fairfield Community High School under B. Floyd Smith and Weldon Kendrick, two former FCHS superintendents.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a former member of the Fairfield Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include two granddaughters, Mrs. Richard (Lynn) Heckler, of Bensonville; and Mrs. Paul (Lori) Mogilinski, of Elmhurst; and one daughter-in law, Mrs. John (Peg) Finlayson, of Elmhurst.
She was preceded in death by a son, Bill Cooper.
