Mrs Ethel Kanady, 98, of Peoria, formerly of Fairfield, the mother of Charles Kanady, of Fairfield, died at 9:40 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, 1983, at her
Mrs Kanady lived for the past 20 years with her daughter, Mrs. Chloe Diamond, of Peoria. Mrs. Kanady was in declining health for six years. Death was due to pneumonia, the family said.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Nale's Funeral Home with Rev. B. R. Cummins officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery near Norris City.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 7-9 p.m. Thursday (tonight) at the funeral home.
Mrs. Kanady was born in White County Aug. 26, 1885, the daughter of James Henry and Polly (Harrell) Wade.
She married Charles Kanady in Norris City July 12, 1911. He preceded her in death Mar. 15, 1946.
The Kanady family moved to Wayne county soon after their marriage. Mr. Kanady was a blacksmith and a farmer.
Mrs. Kanady was a housewife and homemaker during her married life.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, of Fairfield.
She was a former member of the Rebekah Lodge at Norris City.
Mrs. Kanady is survived by one son, Charles Kanady, Jr., of Fairfield; one daughter, Mrs. John (Chloe) Diamond, of Peoria; one brother, Gilbert Wade, of Norris City; one sister, Mrs. Gertie Weaver, of Chapel Hill, N.C.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, three brothers and one sister.
