Willard E. Buchanan, 77, a retired Mt. Vernon laborer, the father of Betty Jean Draper, of Wayne City. died at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 1983, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

He was a retired laborer of Fairfield Local No. 1260.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Myers Baril Funeral-Home in Mt. Vernon. Rev. Leonard Wood officiated with burial in Olive Branch Cemetery near Wayne City.

Mr. Buchanan was born in Wayne county July 3, 1906, the son of Oscar and Emma (Koger) Buchanan.

He was married to the former Blanche Gilbert in Wayne county Aug. 19, 1930.

Surviving are his wife, Blanche Buchanan, of Mt Vernon, two daughters, Betty Jean Draper, of Wayne City, Nelva Shaheen, of Coral Gables, Fla.; one brother, Virgil Buchanan, of Mt. Vernon; three sisters, Cylvia Tenny and Zelma Woolever, both of Wayne City, Alma Trotter, of Dahlgren; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchlldren.

He was preceded in death by one sister.
