Evert Osterman, 79 of Fairfield, a retired Cisne grade school teacher, died 3:19 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, 1985, in the intensive care unit of Fairfield Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Osterman taught school for 40 years at Cisne prior to retirement.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday (today) at Johnson Funeral Home with Bro. Eldon Wand officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery.

A native of Elm River township Wayne county, Mr. Osterman was born Oct. 14, 1905, the son of Joe and Ollie Wilson Osterman.

On Oct. 31, 1926, he married the former Lola Grove at Enterprise.

Mr. Osterman was a member of Buckeye Christian Church and currently served as an elder. He belonged to the Retired Teachers Association, the National Education Association, and the Illinois Education Association.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lola Osterman, of Fairfield; one son, Joe L. Osterman, of Mt. Vernon; a  daughter, Mrs. Clayton (Dolores) Eblin, of Creal Springs; one sister, Mrs. Harold (Gladys) Obrecht, of Cisne;  nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren

Preceding him in death was a sister.
