Cisne civic leader and businessman Charlie C. Mix, 70, died at 1:45 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 1985, at his home of cancer.
Mr. Mix owned and operated Anderson & Mix Construction Company at
Cisne until ill health forced him to retire
early this year. He was associated with the business from 1946, which
was originally started by his father-in-law. Mr. Mix was a licensed
plumber, general contractor and brick and stone mason.
Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday (today) at Hosselton Funeral Home, Cisne, with Rev. Nolan Eubank and Rev Mary Whetstone Robinson officiating. Burial followed in Cisne cemetery.
Mr. Mix was born in Wayne county, Sept. 16, 1915, the son of Luther and Florence Robertson Mix.
He was wed to Rosamond Anderson at Benton, Ky., Feb. 17, 1940.
Mr. Mix formerly taught grade school for 10 years, which included schools at Jordan, Rinard, and Cisne. He graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1938. A member of Cisne United Methodist church, he was active in the Masons, Eastern Star, Rotarians and Chamber of Commerce, all located at Cisne. He belonged to the Valley of Southern Illinois Scottish Rites, at Belleville, and Ainad Shrine in East St. Louis.
Surviving are his wife, Rosamond Mix, of Cisne; three sons, Jerry and Larry Mix, of Cisne; and Bill Mix, of Washington; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Linda) Taylor, of Flora; twin sisters Mrs. Lawrence (Pearl) Gill, of Flora and Mrs. Mearl Gill, of Mt. Erie; two brothers, his twin, Harlie Mix, of Clay City; and William (Bud) Mix, of Cisne; 10 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter.
