A Wayne City truck driver, Donald Lee Jones, 45, died at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, 1985, at his home.
Mr. Jones, known by the nickname “Fat Boy", was truck driver for Barnard Soil Service, located in Wayne City, until failing health forced him to retire.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday (today) at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, with Rev. Don Williamson officiating. Burial was in Thomason Cemetery at Wayne City.
Mr. Jones was born in Jefferson County, Ill., July 16, 1940, the son of William L. and Lee Earnestine Atchison Jones.
He married the former Nancy Hampton in Belle Rive, Aug. 2, 1962.
Mr. Jones attended the Sims Congregational Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Nancy Jones, of Wayne City; a son,
Donnie Jones, at home; three daughters, Robin, at home; Mrs. Tim (Dena)
Koker, of Bluford; and Mrs. Bryan (Judy) Bennett, of Orchardville; his
father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. William Lee Jones of Ewing, three
brothers, Larry Jones of Bluford; Bill Jones, of Mt. Vernon; and Bob Jones,
of Whittington; and one sister, Mrs. Sharon Dickey, of Casa Grande, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
