Dr. Jean M. Modert, 68, of Mt Vernon a physician and surgeon, died at 5:01 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 1985 at his home of cancer.

Dr. Modert was well-known to many Wayne Countians. His practice was located in Doctors Park at Mt. Vernon.

His family has a long history of its members being either physicians or nurses for several generations.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Central Christian Church Mt. Vernon, with Mr. Howard Kraps and Rev. David Crook officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery at Mt. Vernon.

Visitation will be conducted at Central Christian Church after 5 p.m. Tuesday (today). Hughey Funeral Home, of Mt. Vernon, is handling the funeral arrangements. A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. during the visitation period at the church.

Dr. Modert is survived by his wife Rita, of Mt. Vernon; two sons, three daughters, a brother, two sisters, and five grandchildren.
