Answers Final Summons
Sylvester Loyd Barnard, son of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Barnard was born in Warick county, Indiana February 9th, 156, died at his home near Wayne City, Illinois, November 27th, 1919 at 6 a.m., aged 63 years, 9 months and 18 days.
On March 17th, 1876 the deceased was united in marriage with Esther M. Youngblood who preceded him May 4th, 1881. To this union were born three children, Mrs. C.W. Reid of Harvey, Ill.; Clarence of Johnsonville, Ill.; and Walter, deceased.
On February 18, 1883 he was united in marriage with Catherine Spicer. To this union were born six children, Arthur, Mrs. William Barnard, Mrs. Lewis Dawson, Mrs. Geo. Wilson and Ordie S. all of Wayne City, Ill. William A, preceded him July 4th, 1896 at the age of 19. He was converted and joined Pleasant Hill M.E. church of Indiana, upon coming to this state he transferred his membership to Wesley Chapel on the Johnsonville charge and later to Mt. Olive where he lived a faithful and active member till his death. He gave his strongest and best years to the service of his Savior and humanity and died in the triumphant hope of a glorious immortality. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, seven children, one foster child, Myra Wells, eight grandchildren, three brothers, two uncles, and other loved ones and a host of friends. He bore his long and intense suffering with patience until relieved by the Angel of Death.
The funeral services were held at Mt. Olive church Saturday morning, November 19th, 1919, conducted by his former pastor, Rev. DeLain assisted by his present pastor, Rev. E.L.Lawler after which the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery nearby to await the resurrection of the Just.
