A former rural Fairfield and Ellery resident, Mrs. Edith Lamar, 72, of Berea, Ky., died at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, 1985, at the home of her daughter in Berea.
Mrs. Lamar moved to Berea in July of 1984 to be nearer her daughter, Mrs. Leroy (Carole) Hallam. Mrs. Lamar was stricken with cancer last year and submitted to surgery in November. She was ill since May with a recurrence of the disease.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at N@les Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Crouch officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery at Ellery.
Mrs. Lamar was born near Ellery, Wayne County, Aug. 9, 1913, the daughter of Clarence and Zola Marie Smith.
She was wed to Willard Lamar Oct. 7, 1931, who preceded her in death Jan. 2, 1984. The Lamar family lived on a farm east of Fairfield for many years.
Mrs. Lamar was a member of Ellery Christian Church, but attended Berea Christian Church since moving to that area.
She was a retired garment factory employee, previously employed at Johnnye Manufacturing Co., of Albion, and Kaufmann Manufacturing Co., of Fairfield, for 20 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Leroy (Carole) Hallam, of Berea, Ky.; one son, Jimmie Lee Lamar, of Highland, Calif.; four brothers, Max Green, of Fairfield, Robert Green, of Ellery, Arehie Green, of Jacksonville, Ark.; and Jack Green, of Tulsa, Okla., one sister, Mrs. Arnos (Elsie) Johnson of Fairborn, Ohio; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
