A former Fairfield resident, Mrs. Edna L. Clifton, 72, of Lawrenceville, N. J., died Sunday, July 28, 1985, at a Princeton, N. J. hospital.

Mrs. Clifton was the daughter-in-law of Mrs. Alta Clifton, of Fairfield.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lawrenceville, N. J. Cromwell Memorial Home at Hopewell, N. J. is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Mrs. Clifton was the widow of Clinton R. Clifton, of Fairfield. The couple were married in 1951. Mr. Clifton died in 1978. Mrs. Clifton moved to New Jersey in May of 1983 to reside with her sister-in-law, Mrs. Alice Fales.
 
Survivors include her mother, Mrs Lelia Fales, of Princeton, N. J.; one son, Robert Beyer, of Tremont, Calif.; and four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father and one brother.
