Note: This came from a lady's old family scrapbook of collections. The paper name and date were not on it but, from the info below, most likely was a Wayne County paper and the year was 1937.
FUNERAL SERVICES HELD
MONDAY AFTERNOON FOR
JOHN EDWIN BLACK
Funeral Services were held Iact Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Barnhill for John Edwin Black, who passed away on February 14th. He had been seriously ill for about ten days.
Rev. James Whitson of Sims officiated at the services, Interment was in the Barnhill cemetery.
John Edwin Black, son of Martin L. and Margaret Black, was born near Bridgeport, Ill., on December 5, 1854. He passed away on Febuary 14, 1937, at 12:15 a. m., age 82 years, 2 months and 9 days.
He professed faith in Christ at an early age and joined the Missionary Baptist Church at Banhill, Ill.
He was. married to Fanny Albert Wilson on September 2, 1880.
To this union were born fourteen children. Seven of these have preceded him in death, also one sister and five brothers.
Those left to mourn his loss are his wife, Fanny Alberta, four daughters and three sons: Mr-s. May Wetzel, Calhoun, Ill.; Mrs. Jennie Holman, Wayne City, Ill.; Mrs. Anna Hobbs and Mrs. Elva Boles or Chicago, Ill.; John Black, Mishauaka, Ind.; Clarence and Lee Black of Fairfield; one brother, Emery Black of Riverside, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Sarah Wilson, Long Beach, Calif.; twenty-one grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, All of the children were with him during his last illness, All was done for him that loving hands could do,
