ALICE KERN DIES
TUESDAY MORNING
Mrs. Alice Kern, well-known and beloved woman, passed away at
the home of her daughter, Mrs. Stopher in Cisne, Tuesday morning.
Death followed a stroke of paralysis Friday of last week. Mrs. Kern was
the mother of Mrs. O.E. Brock of Fairfield, with whom she spent a part
of her time here and had many friends in Fairfield. Funeral and burial
will be held in Cisne, Thursday.

Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Kern, who entered peacefully into rest at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Stopher, in Cisne early last Tuesday morning, Oct. 22, were conducted Thursday afternoon by Elder W.D. Crippin from the Cisne Christian church. Interment was in the Cisne cemetery.
Her death followed a few days of acute illness. She was aged 86 years, seven months and 27 days.
Alice McClure, daughter of Richard and Sarah McClure, was born near Enterprise in Wayne county, February 25, 1860. She grew to womanhood in the vicinity of her birth and was united in marriage with Conrad Kern, August 5, 1876.
Eight children were born to this union, two sons having died in infancy; a daughter, Mrs. Alma Rogers, passed away in 1932; one son Conrad W., also preceded his mother in death in 1938, and another son Royal E. died in 1942.
She confessed her faith in Christ and was baptized in 1923 and united with the Cisne Christian church, where she remained a faithful member until her death.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ora Stopher of Cisne, Mrs. Kate Brock of Fairfield and Mrs. Emma Rainey of Alma; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren, many other relatives and a hoist of friends who will mourn her passing.
