Services for Gilbert "Gib" Greenwalt, 67, Keenes, a retired steel worker, were held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Richardson Chapel in Wayne City, with the Rev. John Capps officiating. Burial was in Garrison Temple Cemetery, north of Keenes.
Mr. Greenwalt died at 1:50 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 22, 1988, at the VA Medical Center in Danville, Ill. He had been ill for some time with a heart condition.
He was born on June 8, 1921 in Jefferson County, the son of Ira and Ethel (Coil) Greenwalt.
Mr. Greenwalt was employed as a steel worker in Rock Falls, Ill., until a car accident forced his retirement.
He served in the Army during World War Two, stationed in Iceland. He was a member of Bluford American Legion.
Survivors include four brothers, Robert of Keenes; Jeffery of Dixon, Ill.; and Harlan (Hod) and Gerald of Wayne City; and two sisters, Mrs. Alvin (Dora) Keele of Wayne City and Mrs. Marcine (Lena) Sledge of Mt. Vernon.
