Hazel M . Dawson, 84, of Fairfield, died 10:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, 1988, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.  She died of pneumonia, a complication resulting from surgery on a broken hip.

She was a homemaker.

Services were held Thursday (today) at 1:30 p.m. in Johnson's Chapel with the Rev. R. J. Adrain officiating. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Dawson was born on June 11, 1904 in Berry Township in Wayne County, the daughter of Lonnie and Bertha (Pike) Gregg.  She married Kelly Edward Dawson on March 31, 1923 in Wayne County. He
preceded her in death on Oct. 29, 1979. Mr. Dawson had been self-employed as a carpenter.

Mrs. Dawson was a member of the Pin Oak Baptist Church.

Surviving her are a son, Don of Fairfield; two daughters, Mrs. Don (Eva) Bashore of Fairfield and Mrs. Leroy (Joyce) Wilson of Decatur, Ill.; one sister, Mary Hilliard of Fairfield; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers, three sisters, and two grandchildren.
