WILLIAM LORIN HENSON
William Lorin (Dodge) Henson, 84, retired Sims farmer, died at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday (March 5, 1969) at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
A lifetime resident of the Sims vicinity, Mr. Henson had been in poor health with a heart condition for nine years. He had been hospitalized a number of times.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Dixon & Johnson Chapel at 1:30 Saturday afternoon, with Rev. Oakley Miller officiating, assisted by Rev. Melvin Chambliss. Interment will be in Pin Oak cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Friday.
He was born at Sims Mar. 8, 1884, the son of Squire William and Della Miller Henson.
On June 16, 1927 he was married to Dorothy Cates.
Mr. Henson was a member of the Sims Missionary Baptist church.
Surviving are his widow; three sons, Lieuna, of Wayne City; Homer, of Sims; and Clarence, of Chicago; two daughters, Betty, wife of Wallace Bruce, of Indianapolis,Ind; and Novilla, wife of Glenn Pruiett, of Alton; a foster daughter, Mrs. Bernice Robertson of Woodriver; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Jeff, Wayne City; and Jack, Chris and Harold, all of Alton; and five sisters, Miss Margaret Henson, of Wayne City; Mrs. Vina Fields, of Alton; Mrs. Cora Campaigna, of Alton; Mrs. Mary Warren, of Sims; and Mrs. Jessie Sons of Wayne City.
