Elmo Gholson, 80, McLeansboro, died at 4:10 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 4, at Welborn Baptist Hospital in Evansville, Ind.

Services were held Wednesday at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Rudolph Schlag and the Rev. Bill Tomberlin presiding. Burial was in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, McLeansboro.

Mr. Gholson was born March 29, 1908 in Saline County to Eli T. and Malinda (Reason) Gholson. On Aug. 2, 1928, he married Abbie Busler, who survives.
 
He was the founder of the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro, a director of Hamilton County Bank and a past coroner of Hamilton County.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Jerome Gholson of McLeansboro; one daughter, Malinda Munsell of McLeansboro; two sisters, Lillian Mayberry of McLeansboro and Martha Harbison of Norfolk, Tenn.; three  grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
