S.R. Talbert, 97, of Sims, died at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 31, 1996 at the home of a daughter in Centralia.

He was retired from farming and the Illinois Dept. of Transportation.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday from the Richardson Funeral Home in Wayne City, with Rev. Oakley Miller officiating. Burial will be in Thomason Cemetery. Visitation at Richardson's will be after six o'clock Monday evening (tonight).

He was born at Sims Sept. 28, 1898, the son of F.V.E. and Cora Warren Talbert. On Feb. 10, 1921, she was married to Mattie Harris. She passed away Sept. 5, 1995. Also preceding him in death were his parents, two infant sons, two brothers and one sister.

Surviving are two daughters, Vernell Conley, of Yukon, Okla.; and Joyce Norton, of Centralia; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and several step-grandchildren.
