Former Wayne City Resident Dies; Rites Set

Former Wayne City resident, Mrs. Nora Mae Harris, 92, of Mt. Vernon, died at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, 1984, at Nature Trail Nursing Home at Mt. Vernon, where she was a resident for the past seven years.

She was the widow of Leo C. Harris.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Richardson Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Wolford officiating. Burial will follow in Wells Chapel Cemetery west of Orchardville near the county line. Visitation will be conducted after 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Mrs. Harris was born in Wayne County Feb. 10, 1892, the daughter of George and Nancy (Betty Richards) Vest. She was first married to Willie Russell Aug. 21, 1914, who preceded her in death Mar. 25, 1919. She later married Curtis B. Mills May 20, 1922. Mr. Mills preceded her in death May 11, 1935. Her third husband was Leo C. Harris, who married her Dec. 8, 1940. He preceded her in death July 9, 1961.

Mrs. Harris was a housewife and homemaker during her marriage. She was a member of Wayne City First Christian Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Wilma) Wilson, of Keenes; and Mrs. Charles (Fawn) States, of Cisne; one step-daughter, Mrs. Hubert (Wanda) Gaumer, of Sterling; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; and numerous step-great and step-great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were one son, a brother, two sisters and three grandchildren.

A rural Xenia housewife, Mrs. Judith Faye (Dagg) Roach, 42, died at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 1984, at Mt. Vernon Hospital in Mt. Vernon of cancer.

Mrs. Roach was the wife of Gary Roach.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday (today) at Richardson Funeral Home, Wayne City, with Rev Dean West and Rev. Marvin McCormick officiating. Burial was in Jacob Chapel Cemetery at Orchardville. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mrs. Roach was born in Aden Dec. 8, 1941, the daughter of Vern and Georgia (Kingston) Dagg. She was wed to Gary Roach April 7, 1984 at Orchardville.

Mrs. Roach was a former factory worker prior to her illness. She was a member of the Old Bethel Church at Iuka.

Survivors include her husband, Gary Roach, of Xenia, one tep-daughter, Crystal Roach, of Mt. Vernon; five brothers, Bob and Dale Dagg, both of Johnsonville; Bill Dagg, of Bluford; Leland Dagg, of Bossier City, La; Delano Dagg, of Sandoval; three sisters, Mrs. George (Sena) Mills, of Keenes; Mrs. Gene (Doris) Johnson,of Flora; and Mrs. Mary Wilkins, of Centralia.

Preceding her in death were both parents and a nephew.
