The Rev. Luther "Otto" Windland, 85, of Fairfield, died at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at his home.

He was born Aug. 15, 1924, in Wayne County, the son of Luther Columbus and Lena (Marshel) Windland. He married Lena Windland.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Archie Saunders Chapel in Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City. Interment will follow. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield.

The Rev. Windland is survived by his wife; three daughters, Edna Todd and husband Jim of Fairfield, Anna Beasley of Cisne and Carolyn Luetge and husband Jack of Frisco, Texas; two sons, Harry Windland and wife Christine of Bluford and Bill Windland and wife Annette of Cape Coral, Fla.; a brother, Nelson Windland and wife Doris of Fairfield; and 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Earnest Windland.

The Rev. Windland was a minister for 54 years in churches in Wayne, Jefferson and Hamilton Counties. He worked in timber and retired from the city of Fairfield.
