Dale Simpson, 82, of Wayne City, passed away at 7 a.m. Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at Fairfield Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Wayne County Dec. 24, 1927, a son of Vetis and Vivian (Richardson) Simpson. He married Betty Higdon Sept. 24, 1949, and she survives in Wayne City.

He was a retired Air Tex worker, having worked for over 45 years.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at the Archie L. Sanders Memorial Chapel in Wayne City with the Rev. Richard McCormick officiating. Burial will follow at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City.  Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Richardson Funeral Home in Wayne City.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Simpson is survived by two daughters, Cheryl and husband Noel Edmison of Wayne City and Cathy and husband Randy LeMond of Fairfield; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild; a brother, Leroy Simpson of Wayne City; and a sister, Donna Kay Newman of Wayne City.He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.Memorials may be made to Sims Missionary Baptist Church.
